Key West is literally “the end of the road,” the last in the chain of islands south of mainland Florida. As such, it reflects the aura of Caribbean islands.

Taxi service or car rental is easily available at the airport, and most of the large resorts have limos to pick up registered guests. Because the easiest mode of transportation is the bicycle, many hotels and motels have bicycles on the premises for use by their guests.

For those wishing to come on their boats, Key West and Stock Island marinas offer dockage for private vessels, and many prefer to live aboard their yachts.

Home to Pridefest and Womenfest, festivals for gays and lesbians, Key West offers several guest houses restricted to them—some for men, some for women, many others for either sex.
